Our Current Squad

Where were you born?
Carlisle
What did you want to be when you grew
up?
Motorbike Racer
What was your first job?
Paperboy
Where and when did you learn to swim?
Carlisle Baths in 1982/83
Favourite swimming pool and why?
Going back to when I Competed loads and was in my early teens. It would
probably be swimming at any pool in the counties down at Manchester
/ Liverpool. We were completely rubbish, but the Return Coach Journey
was always a good laugh with a ‘Ghetto Blaster’ and a sneaky
can of warm beer/alco-pops on the back seat, trying not to get caught
by the parents down the front. Or, Kendal pool as I always achieved
good swim times there. But, I do have a long list of pools I detest,
(Barrow being top of the list, even though I made the nationals in a
swim there)
Ideal job – other than the one
you have?
Racing Motorbikes obviously!
How do you keep fit other than swimming?
My job keeps me fit, cycling to work then carrying a toolbox around
a factory for 12 hours a day is very tiring. Getting out on my R1 for
a blast keeps me fit too. I also do a lot of DIY and projects at home
too, no job too small. Although, running around after my sons, Ollie
& Austin, is more tiring than my job! Ollie is more Hyper than me!!
Favourite pastime?
I love my motorbikes, watching all of the racing on a weekend (whilst
doing the ironing, it’s the only way I get away with it), and
also going for a spin on my R1 when I can. I’m still trying to
get that elusive knee down on corners, and have nearly crashed on several
occasions trying. I love to maintain and modify my bike too, as well
as most DIY jobs. My Garage (workshop) is my sanctuary, It’s the
only room I have, but my wife seems to think it’s a storeroom.
Oh, yeah, and spending time with my kids obviously.
First record that you bought?
Queen’s Living on my own. Even though I was still living with
my parents at the time.
Favourite music?
Anything by the Levellers, I’ve got all of their albums. Linkin
Park or 80’s tunes.
Favourite city?
Edinburgh, been to 2 stag weekends there, including mine. Had a fantastic
time on both occasions. Love the place.
What or who makes you laugh?
Michael Macintyre, Lee Evans and Al Murray. Top Gear is funny too, Jeremy
Clarkson cracks me up.
Favourite film?
Difficult question, I watch a lot of films. Probably Pulp Fiction. Or
1408. Or Snatch.
Favourite author?
Stephen King
Favourite book?
Pet Cemetery / Salem’s Lot - Stephen King
Four famous dinner party guests? (Dead
